Welcome to my home. Pull up a comfortable chair, settle in with a good cup of coffee, and be prepared to read the ramblings of a late 20’s girl just trying to find her place in the world. I’m an exotic bird owner and educator, sharing my life with 9 birds, 3 cats, a dog, and a hedgehog.
I’m a freelance web developer and writer. After pouring my heart and soul into building a local media entity from the ground up, I’ve discovered that I greatly miss my creative writing. Inspiration becomes lackluster when you turn from freethinking and free form poetry, to structured writing and journalism. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy what I do, but have been longing for a different outlet for some time.
I’m a fairly restless person. As an introvert, I enjoy time to myself and can spend endless hours reading, weaving, writing, or doing other activities. Growing up, I moved around quiet a bit, and as a result I really enjoy traveling. The moving aspect I dislike, but visiting new places, new towns, and experiencing new things is something I’ve grown to long for. Up until recently funds have been tight and my travel has been limited to day trips or weekend trips to places fairly close to home, which while enjoyable, have never fully satisfied my needs.
This year, however, that changes. I’ve booked my first trip to Europe and am delighted to be sharing that experience with two very dear friends of mine. I am determined to have this be the start of a yearly overseas adventure. As a result, I’ll be sharing a lot of this with you – from trip planning, to saving, and then the trip itself. My last big adventure years ago I failed to document, and I dearly wish I had. It’s so nice to be able to go back and fall in love with the experience all over again.
Anyway, I digress.
The start of this blog marks many new changes for me. I’m stepping out of my comfort zone in a variety of ways and experiencing new things. I am losing weight, after letting it pile on when dealing with serious medical issues. As a result, I’m working on boosting my admittedly low self esteem, and branching out into simple things that I’ve never concerned myself with before, like makeup and physical appearance. While I will try to avoid boring you with exact details, there will be the occasional entry about my journey into self care.
This is also a place to build a writing portfolio. I’ve posted a bit of my previously published work, which is primarily pertaining to the care and ownership of exotic birds. If you like what you see and want to inquire about content writing for your business, feel free to email me.
